Statistica Service Integration

TIBCO Statistica® Server owners who also own TIBCO Spotfire® Server, have the right to install the component, TIBCO® Data Science for TIBCO Spotfire® Analyst. You can install this component on the Spotfire Server and run Statistica data functions by using Spotfire Business Author/Consumer (web client) and Spotfire Analyst.

Spotfire Analyst has the capability of authoring Spotfire analyses (DXPs) that can contain Statistica data functions. These DXPs can be saved to the Spotfire Library. You can open these analyses using Spotfire Business Author/Consumer (web client) and can run the data functions using Statistica Service.

The following diagram explains the relationship between Spotfire and Statistica Service.

There are different user personas that are described in detail.

Persona Capabilities
User 1: Installed Client - Spotfire Analyst with Data Science-Statistica
  • Authors Statistica Workspaces (.sdm files). Statistica is the visual programming user interface for data science.
  • Authors Spotfire Analyses (.dxp files). Spotfire is the visual exploration user interface.
  • Uses the Statistica data function within the Spotfire Analyst application. Connects the two files (.sdm and .dxp) together.
  • Solution developer and creates a solution once and uses it many times.
User 2: Installed Client - Spotfire Analyst
  • Authors Spotfire Analyses (.dxp files) and performs ad hoc analyses.
  • Also opens and executes a Spotfire analysis that is connected to a Statistica Workspace.
  • Acts as an analyst and a solution consumer.
User 3: Installed Client - Data Science-Statistica
  • Authors Statistica Workspaces (.sdm files).
  • Shares these files with persona 1 or 2.
  • Using the Statistica data function, you can create a .dxp file and connect it to the .sdm file.
  • Can be a data scientist and/or engineer.
User 4: Web Client - Spotfire Consumer with Data Science-Statistica Service
  • Opens a browser and consumes solutions.
User 5: REST API Web Service
  • Can be a technical user / developer.
  • Manages Statistica instances within Spotfire environment.
Statistica Service
  • Owns a Spotfire Server license.
  • Owns a Statistica Server license, hence has the privilege to use Statistica Service.
