To Receive a Request-Response Operation

There are several options for receiving a request-response operation.

For example, a message start event can be paired with a message end event as follows:

In this example, the end message event is configured as follows:

Note: End message events are set to reply to upstream requests by default. In addition, if there is only one upstream request (for example, a start message event), the end event is automatically configured to reply to that request.

A send task can also be paired with a start message event as follows:

Tip: The tasks between the request and reply parts of the process should complete quickly enough that they do not cause the service calling the process to timeout. For this reason, avoid putting user tasks or manual tasks in between the request and reply parts of the process.
