Complex Aggregation Types with Auxiliary Fields

Each metric field that uses a complex aggregation type requires a set of auxiliary fields, known as auxiliary fields, to calculate the metric field value.

For the formulas and auxiliary field types used in each of the other complex aggregation types, see Complex Aggregation Types.

You can let the system generate the auxiliary fields, or you can specify them explicitly, as explained .

Note:
  • You must use the same method of configuration for all of a metric field’s auxiliary fields. Either allow the system to generate them all, or define them all explicitly.
  • Changing auxiliary field definitions in a production system is not recommended. Doing so would require rebuilding the backing store database. (Simply altering the database to account for a change in auxiliary field definition could result in incorrect calculations for the affected metric field.)
