Adding a Metric Using the Wizard

The metric you configure in the wizard is fully functional. You can use it when defining data sources. You can also open the metric editor to configure other features as needed.

Metrics are used in rules. For more details, see Metric Ontology Functions.

Note: Metric names and fields support use of ASCII characters only.

Procedure

  1. Select the Dashboards folder (or other folder where you want to save the metric). Click New Metric tool bar button.
  2. At the New Metric wizard, name the metric, and optionally, provide a description. You can also add and edit descriptions in the Metric editor. Click Next.
  3. At the Add new group by fields page, define one or more group by fields, then click Next.
  4. At the Add new aggregation fields page, define the metric’s aggregation fields.
  5. Click Finish. The metric is saved, and opens in the editor.
  6. Close the editor, or continue to configure the metric as needed.
