Getting REST Metadata from the Microsoft SharePoint Server using SharePoint REST Shared Resource Connection

Prerequisites

Ensure that the design-time credentials are provided in the SharePoint REST Connection shared resource when getting the metadata. Before getting the metadata from the Microsoft SharePoint server, you must create a SharePoint REST connection. See Creating a SharePoint REST Connection.

SharePoint REST Shared Resource Connection uses REST calls to download metadata form the Microsoft SharePoint server.

Procedure

  1. Right-click the root directory of the created project, and then click SharePoint REST Tools > Get Metadata.

    The Get Metadata window is displayed.

  2. Click Browse in the Get Metadata window, and select a SharePoint REST connection in the Select SharePoint REST Connection window. Click OK.
  3. Click Get Web to get available websites.
  4. Click Get Metadata to get metadata from the Microsoft SharePoint server.
  5. Click Close to exit the Get Metadata tool.
