Accessing Statistica Integration in Spotfire Analyst

Spotfire Extension packages are available with Spotfire Server 7.11 or later to support Statistica data functions. The packages assist Spotfire Analyst users in creating data functions that can execute Statistica workspaces. Statistica tool is provided to give you access to the Statistica Integration dialog box to register, define, edit, and delete Statistica data functions.

Prerequisites

To enable access to the Statistica Integration dialog box from Tools menu, a Spotfire analysis (.dxp) file must be open.

Procedure

  1. Open Spotfire Analyst.
  2. From the menu, click Tools > Statistica.
The Statistica Integration dialog box opens.
  3. The Data Functions and Settings tabs are available.
Select options from the Data Functions and Settings tabs to operate on data functions.
  4. The Data Functions tab has a list of all the Statistica data functions found in the Spotfire analysis that is currently open. You have options to register, define, edit, and delete a Statistica data function.
  5. To make changes to the Name and Description fields, you can also double-click the cell in any list item.
The new name has to be nonempty and not match an existing data function name (not just Statistica data functions but any other type of data function as well). The new name cannot be longer than 1000 characters.
  6. Select the Embed or Cache check box according to requirement. Spotfire integration supports linking and embedding of the workspace artifact.
    • Linking: The document stays where it came from, either disk or Enterprise store, and is only referenced in the Data Function definition. Linking maintains single sourcing, but can cause accessibility and permission issues.
    • Embedding: The workspace is serialized into the Data Function itself. When a workspace is embedded into the data function, that copy is used during data function execution. The original workspace can be disconnected, but can potentially cause maintenance issues.
