Nesting for Categorical Factors
Click the Hierar. Nest button in the Define Custom Design dialog to display the Nesting for categorical factors dialog, where you can specify the nested factors. Several columns are displayed (one for each between group factor) with a factor name at the top and the remaining factors listed below. To specify a nested factor:
- Procedure
- Identify the column with the name of the factor (at the top of the column) that you want to designate as the nested variable
- In this column, select the factor(s) in which this factor is nested by clicking on the factor names to highlight them. The column now refers to the first factor (listed at the top of the column) as "nested in" the selected factor(s)
- Repeat this process for each of the nested factors (in their respective columns)
Note: You can deselect a nested factor by holding down the Ctrl key and then clicking on that factor.
- After you have specified the nested factor(s), click the OK button to close the dialog and return to the Define Custom Design dialog
- Click the Cancel button to close the dialog and return to the Define Custom Design dialog, disregarding any changes you have made in this dialog
