New York Ozone Concentration
Description
A data frame with observations (rows) on four variables (columns),
taken from an environmental study that measured
ozone, solar radiation, temperature, and wind speed for 5 months
in 1973 in the New York City area.
The air data frame only has complete observations
(no missing values) on the four variables (111 observations).
This matches the air data frame from S-PLUS.
The airquality data frame has all daily observations,
including days when some of the variables were missing (153 observations).
The airquality data frame also includes the month and day for
each observation.
The variable names match the names in the airquality data frame in
open source R.
Details
The
air data frame has columns:
ozone:
the cube root of surface concentration of ozone in New York,
in parts per million.
Recorded at Roosevelt Island between 1300 to 1500 hours.
radiation:
solar radiation in Langleys in the frequency band of 4000-7000 angstrom.
Recorded at Central Park from 0800 to 1200 hours.
temperature:
maximum observed temperature, in degrees Fahrenheit.
Recorded at LaGuardia Airport.
wind:
average wind speed, in miles per hour.
Recorded at LaGuardia Airport from 0700 to 1000 hours.
