Using the Desktop Tester

The Desktop Tester utility has been introduced in addition to the existing Formflow Tester. These two utilities are used such as the following:

•	Use the Formflow Tester to test your formflows. You can debug the formflows easily because the tester gives you access to entire engine data.

•	Use the Desktop Tester to test your Formflows in their surrounding desktop environment consisting of skins, folders, guest-access, access control, session timeouts, and so on. The Desktop Tester allows you to preview and run your FormBuilder Desktop before you actually deploy it.

The Desktop Tester cannot load dynamic formflows or regular TIBCO BusinessWorks processes. Therefore, if a formflow dynamically calls a TIBCO BusinessWorks process or another formflow, it will fail. In such cases, use the Formflow Tester instead.

Using the Desktop Tester, you can test and verify the following:

•	Guest-access formflows

•	Access-controlled formflows

•	General look and feel of the FormBuilder Desktop

•	Custom skins that you have defined according to your company branding

The Desktop Tester and the Formflow Tester cannot run at the same time. If you try to run them simultaneously, you will get an error message.

In order to test access-controlled formflows, you first need to log in. Note that only the user admin with password admin is available in the Desktop Tester.

To Start the Desktop Tester

At design time set the TIBCO BusinessWorks engine properties in the following file: bwfb_install_dir/version/bin/Properties.cfg.

•	In TIBCO Designer, select the FormBuilder Desktop you want to test and click the Start Tester icon in the toolbar.

To Stop the Desktop Tester

•	In TIBCO Designer, select the tested FormBuilder Desktop and click the Stop Tester icon in the toolbar.
