Changing an Existing iProcess Engine Nodename

This section gives you the information about the process to rename an existing iProcess Engine nodename.

Prerequisites

The UPDATE_NODENAME command must be run by the Pro user in Linux and the Administrator user in Windows.
Before you update the Nodename on iProcess Node cluster environment, stop all the nodes.

Process for Renaming a Node

To rename the nodename of iProcess Engine, the swadm utility provides the following command:

swadm UPDATE_NODENAME [new_nodename]

where, new_nodename is the renamed nodename.

Example: swadm UPDATE_NODENAME <swnod052>

After running the swadm update nodename command, following is a sample output in Linux:

The following is a sample output in Windows.

Note: For Windows, you need to provide the Admin password when it prompts you for the password.

The rename utility updates the following items:

  • The Queue.n files under $SWDIR/queues.
  • The nodename in the swdefs file.
  • The file name: $SWDIR/<nodename>.n.
  • The following registry entry with the new nodename for Windows:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TIBCO iProcess\TIBCO iProcess Engine\Nodes
    .
  • The nodename for iProcess sentinels and the Admin console services for Windows.

In iProcess Engine, the nodename field is no longer relevant as only the current node is used for the iProcess Engine operations. Although you might still see both old and new nodename values in the database, these are either ignored or automatically translated to the new nodename.
