Updating the BIOS Firmware on H5 Appliances

On H5 appliances, you can update the BIOS by using the .exe BIOS flash file.

1. Log in to the appliance by using SSH and shut down the machine by running the command:

   # shutdown -h now

2. Log in to iDRAC and navigate to iDRAC Settings > Update and Rollback.
   In the case of H5 appliances having iDRAC9, go to Maintenance > System Update.
3. For File Path field, click Choose Path, select the .exe file from the saved location in your system and click Upload.
4. Under Update Details, select the check box next to the file name and click Install and Reboot or Install Next Reboot.
5. On the dialog box, click Job Queue.
   The BIOS update process starts and the system restarts on its own. Do not restart or power off the system while the update process is going on.

   If the system does not restart automatically in a few minutes, open virtual console and reboot the system by selecting Power > Reset System.
