Manual Identification of Entities for Import

To share certain configured information from one appliance to another, you can import or export the information as entities.

As described in the TIBCO LogLogic® Log Management Intelligence Administration, you can export and import entities between appliances. TIBCO LogLogic® recommends using the user interface for import and export whenever possible.

You can also manually define entities by editing an exported XML file. Manually adding entities lets you use the XML file to replicate custom entity definitions across appliances.

While it is good practice to use the user interface for import and export whenever possible, manually editing the XML file can be useful to:

• Populate the XML file with entities not already present on any appliance.
• Collect all entities, such as devices and device groups, in one central location (the XML file) for consistent redistribution, rather than circulating them piecemeal from multiple appliances.
