Exporting Data Using Data Transfer
By using the Data Transfer Export option, you can export metadata and data for a single or all root repositories in the enterprise. The purpose of this option is to transfer records data (confirmed, unconfirmed, or latest) from one enterprise to another.
The Data Transfer Export feature is an extension of the existing export records functionality (Master Data > Repositories > Export Records) in a way that it includes the following additional capabilities:
- Supports options to export either a single root repository or all repositories
- Includes metadata in export along with data
- Exports incremental data based on various filters
- Provides a history of all data exports at one place to download
The Data Transfer Export option is different from the synchronization-based data transfer functionality, where only the data for a single root repository selected in the Synchronization Profile is exported, and the output data depends upon the selected output map, relationships, synchronization formats, transformation rulebase, and so on.
- Procedure
-
In ibi MDM, click System Operations> Data Transfer Export.
- On the Data Transfer Export page, select one of the following Data Transfer Operations:
- Export: Use this option to select either ALL repositories or one of the root repositories in the enterprise. Select other filters such as incremental or dates range.
- Download: Download the export archive (ZIP) of current and previous transactions, and also check the status and event details. See Downloading Export ZIP
- Select the root repository from the Repository list. By default, the All option is selected to export all root repositories from the selected company.
- Write the description. The field is mandatory.
- Select the Incremental check box to export only incremental changes since the previous export, either as part of data change or metadata changes. If you select the Incremental check box, the following options are displayed:
- Previous Data Transfer operation: If earlier data transfer was performed for the selected repository, then all those data transfer operations are listed along with the date and timestamps. Select the specific data transfer operation that you want to export.
- Repository Named Version: This option is enabled only for the All root repository option.
When you select the Repository Named Version option, the named version operations are either created by the import functionality or manually listed for the selected repository along with the date and timestamps. Select the specific named version operation that you want to export.
- From the From Date field, select the from date, for example, if you select 1st March, records that are added or modified after 1st March are exported from the selected repository.
- From the To Date field, select the to date, for example, if you select 1st March, records that are added or modified before 1st March are exported from the selected repository.
- If you select both the dates, records that are added or modified between the specified date range are exported from the selected repository.
- If you do not select from and to dates, and also do not select the Incremental check box, all records are exported from the selected repository.
- To export metadata, click the Export Metadata check box.
- Then, click Export.
A confirmation message is displayed listing the selected options. - On the Confirmation message box, verify the listed options and then click Submit.
