Working with Servers

Server definitions define how the supported clients can gain access to a file and contain the information that TIBCO MFT Command Center needs to communicate with the servers. You can add and manage server definitions in TIBCO MFT Command Center through the Servers option.

Many different server definitions can be configured with a single TIBCO MFT Command Center system. TIBCO MFT Command Center supports the following types of server definitions. The servers that you define depend on the product that is installed and the location of the files needed for file transfer requests.

The following table lists the supported server types:
Server Type Description
Platform Server Used by TIBCO MFT Internet Server and TIBCO MFT Command Center.

This definition allows Internet Server file transfer clients to access files located on TIBCO Managed File Transfer (MFT) Platform Server. It also allows TIBCO MFT Command Center to manage and initiate transfers on TIBCO MFT Platform Server.

Internet Server Used by the JMS interface to associate JMS initiated file transfers with TIBCO MFT Internet Server.
Note: The IP address associated with TIBCO MFT Internet Server can point to a load balancer that forwards requests to a server in a load balanced group. Servers defined as Internet Server are not used for transfers like the other types of servers.
JMS Used when sending files to a JMS server or receiving files from a JMS server.
Note: The connectivity information for the JMS server is defined on the Configure JMS Service page. The IP address or IP name defined in this definition is ignored.
FTP (TIBCO MFT Internet Server Only) Used to allow Internet Server file transfer clients to access files located on an FTP server.
Local (TIBCO MFT Internet Server Only) Used to allow Internet Server file transfer clients to access files located on TIBCO MFT Internet Server.
SSH (TIBCO MFT Internet Server Only) Used to allow Internet Server file transfer clients to access files located on an SSH server.
AS2 (TIBCO MFT Internet Server Only) Used to allow Internet Server file transfer clients to access files located on an AS2 server.

HDFS Used to allow MFT clients (FTP, SFTP, HTTP, Platform Server) to send files to or receive files from remote HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System) servers.
FileShare Used to allow MFT clients (FTP, SFTP, HTTP, Platform Server) to send files to or receive files from the File Share component of MFT.
HTTP Used to allow MFT clients (FTP, SFTP, HTTP, Platform Server) to send files to or receive files from remote HTTP servers.
Google Cloud Used to allow MFT clients (FTP, SFTP, HTTP, Platform Server) to send files to or receive files from Google Cloud.
Custom Server Used to allow MFT clients (FTP, SFTP, HTTP, Platform Server) to send files to or receive files from custom servers.
