Configuring Connection Manager

When the Connection Manager components (Internet Server, CMA, and CMS) are installed, default values are set that allow Connection Manager to work in most installations. The MFT Command Center has administrative pages that allow you to update the configuration.

The Connection Manager configuration pages are accessed through the following Command Center menu:

Management > Connection Manager Nodes > Add Connection Manager Node

Management > Connection Manager Nodes > Manage Connection Manager Nodes

Note: The help pages for the Connection Manager Admin pages describe in great detail the parameters on the individual pages. See the help pages for detailed information on the parameters. This document only describes the basic flow and some important parameters.

Prerequisites

Before configuring the Connection Manager components, each component must be defined to Command Center through the Add Connection Manager Node page. This page defines the connectivity information required to communicate with the Connection Manager component.

Adding and Testing a Connection Manager Node

Procedure

  1. In the Add Connection Manager Node page, enter the name and description of the node.

  2. From the Type drop-down list, select the Connection Manager type (CMA, CMS, or Internet Server).
Note: As you change the type, the IP port changes to the default for that node type.
    • When Type is set to Internet Server, select an already installed Internet Server instance from the From Existing Internet Server drop-down list to extract the IP address and IP port. ( When Internet Server is selected, a list is displayed that allows you to copy the configuration information from one of the installed Internet Server instances.)

  3. Enter and confirm the password.
Note: The Password Used for Managing the Node must match the password entered when the component was first installed.
  4. To ensure that the Type, IP Address, IP Port, and Password fields are configured correctly, press Test. For example, if you selected Type as CMA or CMS, the following pages are displayed if your test is successful.

  5. After the test is successful, you can click Add to add the node.
