Copying and Pasting Diagram Objects

Top  Previous  Next

You can copy and paste diagram objects (activities, lines, images, and text) in the same diagram, another diagram in the same process map or in another process map. The objects are copied with the text and the style applied to them. Except the drill downs, all links (diagram link, attachments, statement links, resources, and flow line links) are also copied .

Prerequisites

You must have edit permissions to be able to copy the selected diagram objects.

The diagrams from which you want to copy and paste the diagram objects must be an unlocked draft. For more information about unlocking process diagrams, see Unlocking Process Diagrams.

Procedure

1.Click the Processes link on the navigation bar and open the process diagram from which you want to copy diagram objects.

2.Click the Edit diagram button and select all the objects you want to copy.
To select multiple objects you can use either CTRL+click or Shift+drag selection area on the canvas, or use CTRL+A to select all objects.

3.Click in the palette that appears on the left of the canvas. Alternatively, you can also use CTRL+C.
A banner at the top of the canvas displays the number of objects copied. Note that, a line and its text are counted as separate objects.

4.You can navigate to one or more destinations by using the diagram explorer or the navigation bar and paste the copied objects by clicking the Paste button in the banner at the top of the canvas. Alternatively, you can use CTRL+V.

Points to note

You can paste the objects as long as the banner is displayed at the top. However, it might briefly disappear when moving to other processes, which are in view mode, but it reappears when you enter the edit mode.

You can use a mix of keyboard shortcuts and icons to copy and paste.

You can paste the objects in another diagram in a new browser tab too.

To stop pasting the objects, click the Close button.

The buffer is cleared after your session ends. So, to paste the diagram object links from the previous session, you have to select the same diagram object links again after you start a new session.

The buffer is cleared if you copy any normal text. That is, you can copy either the diagram objects or normal text at a time.

Data table attachment is pasted as an empty table.

You can also undo or redo the copy-paste operation.
