OpenSpirit v3.1.5 is a Master and Satellite release and is intended to either update existing v3.1.4 installations or to be installed as a new installation. Migration of configuration and user information from previous v3.x installations can only be run during new installations.

Fixed a problem where retrieving the ThicknessAbove, ThicknessBelow, MajorAxisLength, and MinorAxisLength columns from EpiDrilling_TabularTarget resulted in an exception being thrown (15713).

Known Issues
The following are the most significant issues known at the time of the release of Version 3.1.1. The FAQ area contains an up to date complete list of all known problems. The FAQ area can be found by going to the support section of the OpenSpirit web site (http://www.openspirit.com/support/).
OpenSpirit Desktop Tools
- You must start the OpenSpirit Desktop as the OpenSpirit administrator in order to use the new "deactivation" functionality in the User Manager tool.
- Data store installation names must be unique within the scope of OpenSpirit installation.
CopySync
- Copy performance with large projects may experience the following problems:
- The copy job can be affected by the location of the source project. If copying from a PC project such as Petra or Kingdom, performance is significantly improved if the project is local as opposed to a network drive.
- The target data connector may experience memory problems when large amounts of data are being copied. If this problem is experienced, it is suggested to reduce the amount of data being copied and run multiple jobs.
- Can not copy velocity surveys from Finder to Kingdom.
- Can not generate seismic time slices or variance cubes in Kingdom.
- When copying well or interpretation data into OpenWorks R5000, if the incoming data is assigned to a private interpreter who is not owned by the unix account running the data connector, then the well or interpretation data cannot be copied. Interpreters inserted by the OpenSpirit copy process are, by default, private interpreters. To address this issue, the interpreter can be set to public, or the unix account could be granted Manage access on the target project.
Windows Vista
- OpenSpirit Master installations are not supported at this time, only Satellite installations.
- Vista
security "locks down" C:\Program Files which prevents some
Desktop Admin tools from updating changes.
Workaround: Install into a directory other than C:\Program Files - Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) must be disabled in order for the OpenSpirit viewers to work properly.
- OpenSpirit 3D Viewer is not compatible with Vista Aero.
- The OpenSpirit.NET has to be re-installed for the OpenSpirit ArcMap Extension to show up in the ArcMap extension list.
- Some applications need to be UN-BLOCKED before continuing to run on Vista.
Windows XP 64-bit
- Microsoft .NET2.0 must be installed prior to OpenSpirit installation.
- The OpenSpirit.NET has to be re-installed for the OpenSpirit ArcMap Extension to show up in the ArcMap extension list.
3rd Party Applications
- The OpenSpirit OpenWorks R5000 data connecter is compatible with only the R5000.0.0.3 release. Other versions of R5000 are not compatible.
- You may need to obtain a patch to run some 3rd party applications with OpenSpirit v3.x. Contact support@openspirit.com for information about compatibility with your 3rd party application.
- A client application using the new 3.x devkit api is not able to get selection events from some of the R5000 seismic and interpretation entities.
- Cannot export modified faults from Petrel 2008 to OpenWorks R5000 where the faults were imported into Petrel from OpenWorks R5000, then modified in Petrel, and exported back to the same OpenWorks R5000 project.
- When using Petra 3.2.2.3 OpenSpirit does not recognize the Geographic Reference name of WGS84 due to a change in Petra's coordinate service. If you are using Petra u3.2.2.x you must get a patch from IHS support to run OpenSpirit with this version.
- In order to use OpenSpirit with the Kingdom 64bit version, you must also install the Kingdom 32bit version and configure OpenSpirit to use the 32bit version.
