Send Grid Events

OpenSpirit enables applications to exchange grid data using events. Raster images in ArcGIS Pro can be broadcast to applications that have been enabled to listen for OpenSpirit grid events, such as Schlumberger's Petrel application and TIBCO's Spotfire application. Applications that receive grid events typically react by displaying the grids contained in the event. The event contains a geo-referenced grid of values that typically represent a horizon or surface.

Grid events are sent using the Send GIS event button in the OpenSpirit tool bar. Use ArcGIS Pro to select the raster images you would like to send to another application as a grid event. Click on the Send GIS event button to send the selected grids.

Grids are always sent unconverted in the layer's original coordinate system. The OpenSpirit Preference settings to send spatial events in the map coordinate system does not apply to grid events.

A geographic transform selection window will appear for each grid that has a coordinate system that is not in the WGS84 datum if the map has not been assigned a transform to WGS84.

Select the geographic transform to WGS84 you would want your receiving application to use if there is a need to transform the grid to WGS84.

A unit selection window will appear for each grid being sent.

Select the unit that represents the Z values in the grid. An option to negate the Z values is also provided if you are sending the grids to an application that expects the sign of Z values to be different from the Z values in the grid being sent.

A progress bar will appear while the selected grids are being sent.
