Common Searching and Managing Features in the Catalog

There are some common features that can help you manage entities in the TIBCO Software Catalog. To see the following features, navigate to Catalog.

Note: Some features can vary based on the entity you select from the Kind dropdown.
  • Kind - You can search and use the required entities like component, template, resource, and more, using this dropdown. If you select any entity from the Kind dropdown, a catalog list of that entity opens in the catalog table with different information. Additional filter dropdowns, basic inline search, and column filtering help in finding the entity information.

  • Type - To find entity-related details, for example, services, library, organization type, URL, use the Type dropdown.

  • Lifecycle - You can view the stage of an entity in your software ecosystem like development, production, and more. It appears mainly in entities such as components, resources, APIs.

  • All/Owned/Starred - The catalog shows an entity Owned by the team and it is logged in members. To see all the entities across your software ecosystem, switch to All. You can star the frequently visited entities and locate easily in Starred. If you star any entity from the catalog list, you can view that entity in the snippet view of the Dashboard.

  • Tags - These are the key terms that can help you search the entity in the catalog.

  • View/Edit- You can see the entity in the source repository. To update the entity, click Edit.

  • Description - You can view the short information about the entity.

  • Unregister Entity - You can delete an entity outright from the catalog. Open the entity properties from a Name or System or Owner catalog columns. From the upper-right corner, click the vertical ellipses icon and click Unregister Entity. A warning message appears to confirm if you want to delete the entity.

Note: If your TIBCO Developer Hub instance syncs with a GitHub Organization, entities come back after you unregister it.
  • Inspect Entity - Open the entity properties from a Name or System or Owner catalog columns. From the upper-right corner, click the vertical ellipses icon and click Inspect Entity. In Entity Inspector, you can view the overview details of an entity like identity, metadata, relations with ancestry, and colocated information.

You can also copy the raw entity data as received from the catalog in JSON and YAML format.

  • Copy Entity URL - You can copy entity URL for use. Open the entity properties from the Name or System or Owner catalog columns. From the upper-right corner, click the vertical ellipses icon and click Copy Entity URL.

Additionally, refer to Backstage Documentation to learn more about the catalog.
