Service administration

After the installing and configuring Spotfire® Statistics Services, and the service is up and running, you might be called on to perform certain standard or specialized administration tasks. needs occasional administration to keep it running without problems.

Standard administration tasks include the following.

• Stopping and restarting the service
• Uninstalling the server.
• Deleting protected packages.
• Apply special configuration for database connections.
• Troubleshoot the service or the engine.

• Stopping the service on Microsoft Windows
  Occasionally, you must stop Spotfire Statistics Services.
• Starting the service on Microsoft Windows
  Occasionally, you must start Spotfire Statistics Services, although by default the service starts automatically.
• Uninstalling the server from Windows
  Follow the steps to remove Spotfire Statistics Services from your computer.
• Configuring the service to run at start up on UNIX or Linux
  You can configure the Spotfire Statistics Services installation to run when the service starts by registering the init scripts with system init.
• Starting the service on UNIX or Linux
  Occasionally, you must start Spotfire Statistics Services on your UNIX or Linux machine.
• Stopping the service on UNIX or Linux
  Occasionally, you must stop Spotfire Statistics Services on your UNIX or Linux machine.
• Restarting the service on UNIX or Linux
  If the Spotfire Statistics Services service is stopped, you must restart it manually, unless you have configured it to start automatically after restarting the machine.
• Uninstalling the server from UNIX or Linux
  Follow the steps to remove Spotfire Statistics Services from your computer.
• Deleting protected packages
  Follow these rules to delete a protected package from Spotfire Statistics Services.
• Monitor the service

• Troubleshoot R engine failures
