Accessing data in databases
You can access and analyze data that is stored in external data sources, such as databases or data warehouses, when you use Spotfire in a web browser.
Spotfire supports accessing data from a wide range of external data sources. When you work with Spotfire in a web browser, the way that you access data is different depending on the type of data source.
Salesforce and Google Analytics With some types of external data sources, you can work entirely in the Spotfire web client. Then you do not have to make any preparations in an installed client. This is currently possible for Salesforce and Google Analytics. |

More external data sources When you work with data from other external data sources, you prepare content in a Spotfire installed client. You can prepare analysis files and pre-defined selections of data, that make it possible to connect to your external data source. Then you can open that content to access data from your external data sources when you use Spotfire in a web client. |

- Supported data sources
In the on-premise version of the Spotfire web client, which runs on your company's own servers, most Spotfire data connectors are available. When working with connectors in the web client, you have different capabilities for different data sources. - Logging in to a data connection
When you open an analysis that contains data from a database, you typically have to log in to the external database. After logging in, you have access to up-to-date data directly from the external database in your analysis. - Accessing data from Salesforce
If you have Salesforce account, you can access and analyze data from Salesforce in Spotfire. - Accessing data from Google Analytics
If you have a Google Analytics account, you can access and analyze data from Google Analytics in Spotfire. - Accessing data from other external data sources
You can access data from many external data sources, when you use Spotfire in a web browser. For data sources other than Salesforce and Google analytics, you use items that enable you to access a prepared selection of data from the external data source.
