A single KPI chart can display several KPIs. Which performance
values that are displayed in the KPI tiles can differ between KPIs. When adding
a new KPI to a KPI chart, you define which values to monitor in the tiles, and
for which categories.
Procedure
-
Right-click a KPI in the KPI chart, and select
Add KPI. In the visualization properties
panel, you can also click
next to the title of the
KPI chart.
The new KPI is added to the chart. In the panel, the new
KPI is highlighted.
-
Under
Value (y-axis), specify the column or
expression to use when calculating the primary value that is shown in the
tiles. You can
- select a
column and an
aggregation in the column selector.
- right-click the
column selector and click
Custom expression. This opens a dialog where
you can type your own expression.
The value that is shown in the tile is the result of this
calculation for the most recent time period. See the Time setting in the next
step.
-
On
Time (x-axis), select the column or hierarchy
to use for defining the time periods.
The shown primary value is the result for the most recent time
period.
Tip: To
show the time period in the tile, select the
Show time in tile check box.
To indicate the development of the primary value over all the
time periods, sparklines are shown in the tiles by default. You can remove the
sparklines from the tiles by removing the
Sparklines card from the visualization
properties panel. In the installed client, you can clear the
Show sparkline check box on the
Appearance page of the
KPI Settings dialog.
-
Under
Tile by, select the column that specifies
which categories the tiles should represent.
The categories are displayed at the upper left of the
tiles.
-
Under
Comparative value, select the column or
expression to specify what the primary values should be compared to. In the
visualization properties panel, you must first click
and select
Comparative value.
The result for the most recent time period is shown in the
lower left of the tiles.
-
If you want to use colors to indicate performance, go to the
Colors (or Color by) section. The default
colors of the tile backgrounds reflect the primary values, and a gradient color
transition is used. Specify the column or expression on which the coloring of
the tiles should be based. The coloring can, for example, be based on the
primary values, the comparative values, or values from any other calculation.
Tip: To let the tiles' background colors indicate the
performance levels differently, click
Add
color rules.
Note: If you, in the visualization properties panel, in the
Tile by card, click the context menu

and then select
, you might
under certain circumstances get tiles that have no primary and comparative
values to display. This might be the case when tile categories have been
filtered out, or certain combinations in a hierarchy do not exist. Under
Substitute values with you can specify what
to show as substitution for non-existent KPI values.
Results
The KPI is added to
the KPI chart.
Tip: Select the check box
Start each KPI on a new row to be able to better
distinguish the individual KPIs from each other and to make the whole
visualization clearer. In the visualization properties panel, you must click

and select
Separate KPIs.
