Changing the marker shape
You can combine the added shapes with other properties and let the data determine the shape, size, and color of the marker in your visualization.
Changing the shape of all markers
For the scatter plot, 3D scatter plot, and the marker layer of a map chart, you can find the Shape selector under the Appearance tab in the visualization properties panel, or under Shape in the visualization properties dialog or popover.
Here, you can change the shape of all markers for the selected visualizations.
Letting a column decide the shape of markers (Shape by column values)
To let the values in a column determine what shape the markers in different categories should have, you can select a column under the Shape (or Shape by) control in the visualization properties (under Configuration in the visualization properties panel, or Shape in the dialog), or in the legend. Depending on where you are changing the settings, sometimes, you must first select Shape by column values (or similar) from the drop-down menu or radio buttons.
Under Shapes (or Shape scheme) you can then select a shape for each category by clicking the shape picker and selecting a shape.
To change the anchor position, click the gear icon
and click inside the shape
where you want to place the anchor. To reset the anchor point to the default
position, click
. The anchor position you
specify here only applies to the selected visualizations. To change the default
anchor position for a shape, go to the
Shape settings.
