Accessing data from Apache Drill
You can connect to and access data from Apache Drill in Spotfire.
About this task
Before you begin
- Read the System requirements for Spotfire Connectors. Make sure your version of Spotfire supports connecting to Apache Drill. The system requirements page also specifies which ODBC driver, and versions of the driver, that you can use with the connector.

Accessing data with an existing connection to Apache Drill
About this task
You can access data from Apache Drill by opening an existing connection or connection data source that is shared in your library. This is a convenient way to access a predefined selection of data from Apache Drill, that you or someone else in your organization has set up.
Procedure
Creating a new connection to access data from Apache Drill
Before you begin
To create a new Spotfire connection to Apache Drill, the following
is required:
- You must use a Spotfire installed client.
- You must have a DSN for your data on your computer. See Setting up a DSN for your Apache Drill data below.
About this task
Note: Once you have created the connection in Spotfire, the DSN is no
longer required for using the connection. All the required connection
information, except for username and password, is stored in the Spotfire
connection.
Procedure

On the Authoring bar, click
Files and data
.
- In the Files and data flyout, click Connect to.
- In the list of connectors, select Apache Drill, and then click New connection.
- In the list in the Apache Drill Connection dialog, select the DSN that you want to create a Spotfire connection from. Enter your Apache Drill credentials, and then click Connect.
- In the Views in Connection dialog, select the data that you want to include in the connection, then click OK.
- The final step is a summary view of the data that you are about to add to your analysis. Here you can view and change how the data will be added. Make any changes that you want, and then click OK to confirm and add the data to the analysis.
Setting up a DSN for your Apache Drill data
About this task
To manage and create new connections to Apache Drill, you must have a DSN for your Apache Drill data on your computer.
