Accessing data from Dremio

You can connect to and access data from Dremio in Spotfire.

Before you begin

Accessing data with an existing connection to Dremio

About this task

You can access data from Dremio by opening an existing connection or connection data source that is shared in your library. This is a convenient way to access a predefined selection of data from Dremio, that you or someone else in your organization has set up.

Procedure

  1. On the Authoring bar, click Files and data .
  2. In the Files and data flyout, browse the folders in the library, or start typing in the search field to find for your content.
    Tip: You can search for 'connector:dremio' to find all shared connections and connection data sources that were created with the Dremio connector.
  3. Click to open the connection or connection data source that you want to add data from. If necessary, sign in with your Dremio credentials.
    1. If you opened a connection data source, use the controls in the Views in Selection dialog to select the data you want to analyze from the data source.
      Note: To open an Dremio connection data source, you must use an installed client.
  4. The final step is a summary view of the data that you are about to add to your analysis. Here you can view and change how the data should be added. Make any changes that you want, and then click OK to confirm and add the data to the analysis.

Creating a new connection to access data from Dremio

Before you begin

To create a new Spotfire connection to Dremio, the following is required:

About this task

To create a new connection to Dremio, you use a DSN on your computer. Once you have connected to Dremio in Spotfire, you can share the connection or the analysis in the library, so that other users on your team can easily access the selected Dremio data.
Note: Once you have created the connection in Spotfire, the DSN is no longer required for using the connection. All the required connection information, except for username and password, is stored in the Spotfire connection.

Procedure

  1. On the Authoring bar, click Files and data .
  2. In the Files and data flyout, click Connect to.
  3. In the list of connectors, select Dremio, and then click New connection.
  4. In the list in the Dremio Connection dialog, select the DSN that you want to create a Spotfire connection from. Enter your Dremio credentials, and then click Connect.
  5. In the Views in Connection dialog, select the data that you want to include in the connection, then click OK.
  6. The final step is a summary view of the data that you are about to add to your analysis. Here you can view and change how the data will be added. Make any changes that you want, and then click OK to confirm and add the data to the analysis.
