OData example: Loading data from Microsoft Azure Marketplace

You can use the OData connector to load data from Microsoft Azure Marketplace into Spotfire.

About this task

Before you begin

Before you can use the OData connector to load data from Azure Marketplace, you need to have a Microsoft Azure Marketplace account, and an active subscription to data on Azure Marketplace. For guidance with creating a Marketplace account, or subscribing to data, please view the official Microsoft Azure Marketplace documentation.

Procedure

  1. On the Authoring bar, click Files and data .
  2. In the Files and data flyout, click Connect to.
  3. In the list of connectors, selct OData, and in the OData flyout, click New connection.
  4. In the OData Connection dialog, in the Service URL field, paste the URL corresponding to the data you want to access.
    Tip: If you are unsure where to find the service URL, see Finding the Service URL below.
  5. In the Authentication method drop-down list, select Microsoft Azure Marketplace.
  6. In the Account key text field, paste your Marketplace account key.
    Tip: If you are unsure where to find your account key, see Finding your Account Key below.
  7. Click Connect.
  8. In the Views in Connection dialog, select the data you want to load. Then click OK twice to load the data into Spotfire

Finding the Service URL

To be able to load data from Azure Marketplace, you need to know the URL to the subscription data you want to load into Spotfire.

Procedure

  1. Log into your Marketplace account.
  2. Locate the page named My Account, and from there, open the page named My Data.
  3. Open the data of interest by clicking on the name.
  4. Open the tab named Details.
  5. Find the Service root URL located on the Details tab. This is the URL to use when you want to load the data into Spotfire.
  6. Copy the URL and paste it into the Service URL field in the OData Connection dialog. Make sure not to include any spaces.

Finding your Account Key

The account key is used as authorization method when loading data into Spotfire from Microsoft Azure Marketplace.

Procedure

  1. Log into your Marketplace account.
  2. Locate the page named My Account, and make sure the Account Information page is opened.
  3. Find the Primary Account Key.
  4. Copy the account key and paste it into the Account key field in the OData Connection dialog. Make sure not to include any spaces.
