Setting the allowed load method for a table in a data connection
In a data connection, you can control what load methods are allowed for each selected data table (view). Either, you can determine that data must be imported into the Spotfire data engine, or that data must be kept external, to be used in-database only.
About this task
By default, when you open a data connection, you can select the load method for each table you add to your analysis. If you have configured an allowed load method for a table, only that option is available when you add data from the connection.
Tip: Enforcing that certain data can be accessed in-database
only can be a way to ensure that the user is working with current data. It can
also be a good option for sensitive data in a connection, if you want to make
sure that only users who are authorized to log in to the database can access
the data, and that the data is not stored in an analysis by mistake.
Certain features in Spotfire are not available when you work with in-database data. For this reason you might want to restrict some data to be used in-memory only.
