Creating a step chart

The line chart can also be used as a step chart, where the lines are drawn in incremental steps rather than as straight lines between each value.

About this task

Step charts are especially useful when changes occur at certain times but the values remain more or less stable between changes.

Procedure

  1. Create a line chart.
  2. In the visualization properties panel, go to the Appearance tab, and under Line drawing, select Step lines.
    Tip: In the installed client, you can also select the check box Draw as step lines on the Appearance page in the Line Chart Properties.
