Editing and managing data connections
There are multiple ways to edit and manage data connections in your library and analyses.
- Editing a data connection from the data canvas
If you have added data to the analysis using a connection to an external data source (for example, Salesforce or Google Analytics) you might encounter situations when you want to change which columns to fetch, modify the date range to look at, or, in certain cases, add or remove views (data tables) in the data connection. Then, you can often use the Data canvas to edit the connection. - Managing data connections in the library
Through the Manage Data Connections dialog, you get an overview of your data connections, as well as the connection data sources in the library. - Editing data connection properties
- Moving a shared data source from test to production
- Refreshing the database schema in a data connection
In a data connection, you can update the data and retrieve any changes to the database schema from the external data source, by performing a refresh schema action. In some cases, if there have been changes in a database to which you have existing data connections in Spotfire, you might have to refresh the schema in those connections to resolve errors.
