Navigation in the map chart and wafer map

The zooming and interaction controls are located at the top right of a map chart or a wafer map. The availability of navigation options depends on the visualization you are using. To select which controls to show in the visualization, open the Appearance section of the visualization properties dialog.

1. Search

Use the search field to find locations on the map. Click the magnifying glass to show or hide the search field. The search functionality is available only in map charts.

2. Zoom

Click the plus sign to zoom in, and the minus sign to zoom out. You can also use the mouse wheel to zoom in or out.

Tip: When using a map chart, select Require Ctrl to zoom or scroll with mouse wheel in the Zoom card in the visualization properties panel if you want to use the mouse wheel primarily to scroll the analysis page rather than zooming in and out on the map or scrolling the trellis panels. To zoom or scroll the trellis panels using the mouse wheel, press the Ctrl key and scroll simultaneously.

3. Zoom to filtered items

Click to zoom in or out to the filtered values in the visualization. The functionality is available only in map charts.

Tip: Select Auto-zoom to filtered items in the Zoom card in the visualization properties panel to automatically zoom to filtered markers or shapes as you filter. Each layer in the map chart (except the map layers) can be specified to be Included layers when zooming to filtered items. When using auto-zoom together with subsets and trellising, all trellis panels are taken into account, there is no individual zoom per panel.

4. Panning mode

When panning mode is selected, you can sweep the visualization in different directions by clicking and dragging. You can still mark items in panning mode by clicking a single item or by pressing Ctrl and clicking multiple items.

Double-click on a map chart to zoom in one step.

5. Marking mode

When marking mode is selected, you can mark multiple items in the visualization, using one of the marking modes. Click the marking option to open the menu, and select the marking mode you prefer.

Rectangle marking – Click and drag the mouse pointer to draw a rectangle enclosing the interesting items

Lasso marking – Click and drag the mouse pointer to draw an area of any shape around the interesting items.

Radius marking – Click and drag the mouse pointer to draw a circle enclosing the interesting items.

Tip: You can also switch between panning and marking mode as well as the different marking modes using the Interaction controls card in the visualization properties panel.

When using a map chart with the default map projection (EPSG:3587 - WGS 84/PseudoMercator), the length and width of the rectangle are shown when using rectangle marking, and the radius distance when using radius marking. For other map projections, distances will not be visible.

6. Layers control

The Layers control can be useful for getting an overview of the different layers in a visualization. You can show or hide layers and also switch the interactive layer.

Tip: You can remove the Layers control, Search field, Navigation controls, and Interaction controls from the visualization by removing the respective property cards from the visualization properties panel.
