Opening a shape collection that is saved locally

A shape collection can be saved as a .dxpshapes file and then distributed between users via, for example, email or publishing it on websites.

About this task

You can download and save such a .dxpshapes file locally, and then open the shape collection in an analysis to add them to the shape picker.

Before you begin

You must have the Load and Pin Shape Collections license feature, and the analysis must be in Editing mode. In the installed client, additionally, the license feature Create and save shape collections is required.

Procedure

  1. Open the shape picker by clicking a shape in the visualization properties panel or the legend.
  2. Click and select Browse local file.
  3. Locate the .dxpshapes file, select it, and click Open.
    • In the installed client, the shape collection is added to the shape picker and saved as a personal collection in your Spotfire instance, indicated by a person icon .
    • In the web client, you must save the collection to the library. In the shape picker it is indicated by a library icon .
