Managing preferences
There are a large number of preferences available that work on different levels of the Spotfire application. Many of the general preferences are located under the expandable group "Application" on the Preferences tab in Administration Manager. Below are a few examples of how you can edit some particular preferences described. The steps for editing other preferences are quite similar.

The available preferences are grouped in the Preferences tab of Administration Manager. Some groups, like Application or Visualization, contain preferences that affect the whole application or all visualizations. Others are specific to a particular visualization.

Allowing for additional URI schemes in links
About this task
Different types of links can be used in many places inside Spotfire. For example, in the table visualization, the text area, in labels or tooltips, etc. If your company needs to link to something other than http-addresses you can modify two preferences according to the following:

- Select
- Go to the Preferences tab.
- In the Selected group list, click the group for which to set the preferences.
- In the Preferences list to the right, click the plus sign next to Application to expand the group.
- Click ApplicationPreferences.
- Click Edit.
- Click Fixed Visualization Area Sizes. A small button will be shown to the right of the preference.
- Click the button shown to the right of the preference.
- In the String Collection Editor, enter the desired fixed size configurations and click OK.
