Refreshing the database schema in a data connection
In a data connection, you can update the data and retrieve any changes to the database schema from the external data source, by performing a refresh schema action. In some cases, if there have been changes in a database to which you have existing data connections in Spotfire, you might have to refresh the schema in those connections to resolve errors.
About this task
Database changes that can require that you retrieve changes to the database schema include:
- Columns have been added or removed
- The data types of columns have changed
- Database tables have been removed
Note: There are also some cases in which, to update certain connections
that were created in earlier versions of Spotfire and resolve compatibility
issues, you must refresh the schema of those data connections.
To refresh the database schema in a connection, you must use a Spotfire installed client.
