As Part of a Network Deployment Cell With an External Deployment Manager

This procedure is used to run a clustered WebSphere application on a Silver Fabric Engine running a managed WebSphere Application Server and Node Agent as part of WebSphere Network Deployment Cell. The Deployment Manager runs external to the Silver Fabric environment (a Deployment Manager is a central point of administrative control for all elements in a WebSphere Application Server distributed cell). Silver Fabric engine starts one node agent server per node per engine daemon, and each engine instance on that engine daemon can run one instance of a managed WebSphere Application Server. The cell thus consist of one Deployment Manager, multiples node agents, where each node agent has one or more WebSphere Application Server.

Prerequisites

All network computers that are running Silver Fabric engines and hosting enabler for WebSphere Application Server require the following conditions:

  • All such computers must have their clocks synchronized within five minutes of each other and with the WebSphere Deployment Manager computer (based on GMT time). The machines can be in different time zones.
  • All such computers must be able to resolve each other's host name, either through DNS or their file based host tables.
