TIBCO Spotfire Connectors includes several connectors. You may have access to all of them, or just a few. See below if you need help finding out if you have access to a certain connector, and what you can do to get access to a connector you think should be available to you.
Finding out if you have access to a connector:
To find out if a connector is available for you to work with, you can simply check if it shows up in the menu.
Open Spotfire.
Select File > Add Data Tables....
Click Add.
Look for the connector of interest under Connection To.
If you see the connector name in the menu, click on it to see if the connector dialog opens. If it does, you have access to the connector. If the name of the connector appears in gray, or if it does not show up at all in the menu, see below.
The connector name appears in gray
If the connector name appears in gray in the menu, it means that you need to install the data source driver for this connector on your computer to make the connector available. See the system requirements at http://support.spotfire.com/sr_spotfire_dataconnectors.asp to find out which driver you need to install.
Comment: If you intend to work with the connector in Business Author or Consumer, the driver must be installed on the Web Player server as well.
The connector name does not show up at all in the menu
There are two possible reasons why the connector name is not available:
You may not have the required license for the connector. Contact your Spotfire administrator to see if this is the case. If so, the administrator needs to either move your username to a user group with access to the connector, or the user group you are currently a member of needs to be granted access to the connector.
The connector may not be deployed on the Spotfire server. Contact your Spotfire administrator to see if this is the case. If so, the administrator needs to deploy the correct software package on the server.
