See the TIBCO® Spotfire® System Requirements
web page for a detailed description of the system requirements for TIBCO® Spotfire® 4.0.1.
- First install/upgrade the TIBCO® Spotfire® Server to version 3.3, highest Service Pack level.
- Install TIBCO® Spotfire® 4.0.1 Client.
Note: If the TIBCO® Spotfire® 3.1.0 Client or older is installed, it is recommended
to uninstall it prior to installing the TIBCO® Spotfire® 4.0.1 Client.
- Finally, deploy the TIBCO® Spotfire® 4.0.1 distribution on the TIBCO® Spotfire® Server 3.3.
Note: To make the "TIBCO Spotfire 4.0.1 - User's Manual" PDF appear when the end
users select Help > PDF Manuals..., the file must be copied to the TIBCO
Spotfire Server as described in the "TIBCO Spotfire Server 3.3 - Installation
and Configuration Manual".
- If the error message "TIBCO Spotfire Loader module could not be located. Please repair you installation
of TIBCO Spotfire and try again." occurs during startup after re-installation of TIBCO® Spotfire® 3.3.1,
close the application and restart.
- If an unrecoverable error occurs the recommendation is to click Continue, save the current analysis
under a new name and restart the application. Depending on the type of error this file might be broken,
and cannot be loaded properly.
- Large fonts (120DPI) sometimes cause the lower half of screen and the rightmost part of the screen to
be outside the physical screen.
- Avoid defining an update schedule for a data table using a personalized information link. In other words,
always use the "No sharing" alternative (which can be found in the Sharing Routines tab in Data Table
Properties) for such data tables. This is the default value. Selecting other values may result in unwanted
sharing of personalized data.
- The application may behave unpredictable when loading a dxp file containing extensions that are installed
on the client, but are not available in the configuration specified by the current server.
- You will be prompted for a username and password if using Support Diagnostics in TIBCO® Spotfire® while
using a TIBCO® Spotfire® Statistics Services with authentication enabled. No TIBCO® Spotfire® Statistics
Services information will be displayed if cancelling or failing to supply the correct username or password.
- If the .NET 4.0 framework is not previously installed, it will be downloaded and installed when launching
the TIBCO® Spotfire® Client installer.
- The automatic download mechanism will fail if a restricted user tries to install the application as
an administrator by choosing "Run As Administrator".
- It is not possible to connect to a server from a machine in another NT domain by using Run As when launching
TIBCO® Spotfire®.
- If the product localization is defined as a user group preference, a client restart is required after
the first contact with the server for the changes to be fully applied. Note that clients are not informed
that such a restart is required. It is also important that the appropriate localization packages are
published to the TIBCO® Spotfire® Server prior to setting the user group preference.
Note that the correct Language pack and the matching server preference must be set on the very first
server that the user connects to. Changing the settings on the Server will not have any effect. If the
localization group preference does not have any effect, it can be enforced on clients using Tools |
Options.
- On very slow networks TIBCO® Spotfire® can in rare cases crash if a timeout occurs while trying to download
the manifest file from the TIBCO® Spotfire® Server.
- It is not possible to connect to the TIBCO® Spotfire® Server using a revoked certificate or a certificate
without a revocation list. Workaround: In Microsoft® Internet Explorer®, go to Internet Options/Advanced
and clear the "Check for server certificate revocation" option.
- Hardware graphics acceleration may not work on older graphics cards or if the drivers are not up to
date.
- Certain graphics cards and drivers lead to crashes, slow response times, blank visualizations, or missing
shapes when hardware acceleration is used. This is known to happen on Dell Dimension 9200 / NVidia 7900
Graphics driver: version 7.15.11.5824 but may happen on other system configurations as well. Upgrading
to the latest graphics driver may resolve these issues. If not, hardware acceleration can be turned
off under Tools > Options > Application.
- The 3D Scatter Plot is not supported in a Citrix environment since the plot requires hardware acceleration.
- Value renderers developed with the TIBCO® Spotfire® 2.2 API are not supported.
- Filtering in the Data Relationships results table will prevent re-calculating the Data Relationships.
If the filters are reset Data Relationships can be re-calculated again.
- Using "limit data by marking" for a line chart used in K-means or Line similarity may produce unexpected
results if data is reloaded or when using an on-demand table. The reason is that the marking may be
different. Turn off the "limit data by marking" feature to avoid issues of this kind.
- Accessing information model elements from the library browser or from Information Designer during information
model import might lead to a crash of TIBCO® Spotfire®.
