Pasting Data, Pages or Visualizations

You can add data, visualizations or pages to your analysis by pasting the content that is currently available on the clipboard. For example, you may have copied some data from a TXT file, the content in a few cells in a spreadsheet, or an entire file that is located in a folder on your computer. Either way, you can load the copied content into Spotfire by using one of the available pasting options.

The pasting options below are available from the Edit menu.

Paste (Ctrl + V)

Data:

Adds the data that is currently on the clipboard as a new data table in Spotfire. Note that this will close the currently open analysis. If you want to add data from the clipboard as an additional data table in the same analysis, use File > Add Data Tables... > Add > Clipboard instead.

Visualization:

Adds the visualization to the active page of the current analysis.

Note that no data is included when the visualization is copied to a new instance of Spotfire. If the new data does not match the previously used data, you must specify the data table and columns to use manually.

Page:

Adds the page after the active page in the current  analysis.

Note that no data is included when the page is copied to a new instance of Spotfire. If the new data does not match the previously used data, you must specify the data tables and columns to use manually.

Tip: You can also use drag-and-drop to copy pages or visualizations between two open instances of Spotfire.

[Only applicable when data is copied, not for pages or visualizations.]

   Show Import Settings

Allows you to (where relevant) view the import settings before pasting data from the clipboard. Note that the currently open analysis will be closed using this option.
