Making Sure that a Data Table from Current Analysis is Updated on Source Change

The option to add a data table from a current analysis (File > Add Data Tables > Add > From Current Analysis) is used when you want to add data from a data table already included in the analysis to a new data table, or as rows or columns in another data table. For example, you may want to use both the original and a pivoted version of your data in the same analysis, or, if you want to add another data table based on a view from a data connection. By using this option, you can reduce the load on an external source since you only bring in the original data once.

In all new analysis files (v 7.0 and forward), data tables based on a data table from current analysis are automatically updated when the source data table changes. However, if you have old analysis files, you may want to update the analyses to get automatic updates there too.

  1. Select Edit > Data Table Properties.

  2. Click to select the data table based on another data table and click Refresh Data > With Prompt.

  3. Response: The Data Table from Current Analysis dialog is shown.

  4. Select the check box Automatic update.

  5. Click OK twice to close the dialogs.

  6. Click File > Save to save the analysis.
