Connector for SAP BW (SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse)

On this page, you find information about downloading and installing the drivers you need to be able connect to data sources with the connector for SAP BW in Spotfire.

Preparations

Before downloading and installing any driver software for use with this connector, read the system requirements for the connector for your version of Spotfire. Make sure that your database version and driver version is supported in your version of Spotfire.

Remember that additional requirements and third party dependencies might apply for using the drivers. Refer to the official documentation from the driver vendor for more information.

Supported data sources

You can use the Spotfire Connector for SAP BW to connect to the following data source types:


Driver information – Spotfire 7.11 and later

To use the SAP BW connector, you must install one of the following drivers on your computer:

It is recommended to use the BAPI driver, version 7.50 (SAP NetWeaver RFC SDK 7.50).

Downloading and installing the BAPI driver (SAP NetWeaver RFC SDK)

Prerequisites: You must be a registered SAP user to download the driver files. Contact your SAP account manager to gain access to this driver.

Preparations

Download the appropriate installation files for your system from the Download Software area of the SAP Support Portal:

Note: When you obtain third-party software or services, it is your responsibility to ensure you understand the license terms associated with such third-party software or services and comply with such terms.

Installing SAP NetWeaver RFC SDK

  1. Place the NWRFC .zip file in a folder on your computer where you want to install SAP NetWeaver RFC SDK, and unpack the file.

  2. Create the following system or user environment variable:
    Name: DXP_NWRFCSDKLIB
    Value: <path to the lib directory in the NWRFC installation folder>
    For example: C:\nwrfcsdk\lib

Note: When you install the driver on computers that run Web Player or Automation Services services, you must use system variables.
