You can open local data files in various formats, to analyze that data in Spotfire.
To add data from a local file to your Spotfire analysis, simply drag a supported file into Spotfire, or click Files and data > Local files... and browse to the file you want to open.
Supported file formats
The following file formats of local data files are supported in Spotfire:
Microsoft Excel (.xls, .xlsx, .xlsm)
Comma-separated Values (.csv)
Text (.txt)
TIBCO Spotfire Text Data Format (.stdf, .txt)
Microsoft Access Database (.mdb, .mde)
SAS Data Files (.sas7bdat)
Universal Data Link (.udl)
Sfs file (.sfs)
Spotfire Server Log Files (.log)
Spotfire Binary Data Format (.sbdf)
ESRI Shape files (.shp)
File formats that require drivers
To open local data files in some file formats in Spotfire, it might be required that you install a driver on your computer.
Microsoft Access Database and Microsoft Excel
To open and load data from Microsoft Access Database files, and Excel workbook files from older versions of Microsoft Excel, a driver might be required. The driver is included in the installation of Microsoft Office.
An alternative to installing Microsoft Office is to only install the stand-alone driver. The driver can be downloaded from Microsoft:
SAS Data Files (.sas7bdat)
To be able to open and load data from SAS data files, you might have to install the SAS Providers for OLE DB driver on your computer.
