TIBCO Spotfire Analytics Server 10.1.2
Important note: The 10.1.2 version of TIBCO® Spotfire® Server is a maintenance
release. If you already have version 10.1 or 10.1.1 installed you should not install
version 10.1.2. Instead you should apply the latest 10.1 patches available at the
TIBCO® Spotfire® support site and download
the latest documentation from the TIBCO Spotfire Technology Network.
- Upgrading from Spotfire Analytics Server 10.0.X
If the provided installation directory for the installed Spotfire Analytics
Server 10.0 is not correct, the installer will report this, but when providing
the correct directory, the installer still reports an error. This is due to a
bug in the installer building software. To circumvent this, restart the
installer and provide the correct directory.
- No input validation in installer
There is no input validation in the installer. Hence, if the configuration
information for e.g. the database connection for the server
databases is incorrect, the installer will not detect this, and the server will
fail to start after the installation has finished. This can be corrected by
reconfiguring the server manually as described in the TIBCO® Spotfire® Analytics Server 10.1 -
Installation and Configuration Manual.
- Using the navigation buttons in the installer sometimes takes you to the wrong panel
Due to a bug in the installer building software, sometimes when pressing
the "back" button in the installer, the installer will navigate to
the wrong panel.
- Oracle® 10g XE
For a new installation using a bundled Oracle database, make sure that there
are no other Oracle databases installed on the same machine.
The bundled Oracle database is not supported on x64 architecture or on Windows Server 2008.
- Databases
For a new installation using external databases, make sure that the
databases are created using the supplied scripts. The server will not start if
you try to connect it to 8.2 (or older) databases.
- Product Registration
After installing the server, please register the product on the
http://support.spotfire.com/dsregister/
web page.
- Uninstalling sometimes leaves files on the computer
After uninstalling the server, in some cases some files can be left uninstalled
by the installer.
- 64bit Architecture
For Microsoft Windows, only a 32 bit version of the Java runtime is bundled with the installer.
To take full advantage of a 64bit architecture, a 64bit version of the JRE needs to be manually installed.
Consult the server manual for more information.
- All settings and options asked during the installation, such as server password,
server name, etc., may contain only alphanumeric characters, the underscore ( _
), the period ( . ), and the “@” symbol.
- Japanese text will not be displayed correctly in the installer prompts.
- Support is for SHIFT-JIS only.
- E-mail with images does not support Japanese characters in combination with
Lotus Notes. To address this problem, use the administration tool for Posters to
change e-mail settings to text only.
- Running DecisionSite Administrator requires that DecisionSite Client is
installed on the same client machine, or that the necessary packages are
downloaded from the server by an administrator.
- A restricted user on a Windows client cannot access the help system for
DecisionSite Administrator, unless an administrator on that Windows machine has
already downloaded the SfHelpControl DLL contained in the
Spotfire.Package.ClientRuntime package.
- The user of the DecisionSite Administrator cannot remove his/her own access to
the administration tool. If the administrator tries to remove his/her own rights
to use the DecisionSite Administrator application he/she will get a “login
failed” page after the Save button is clicked.
- Avoid group names containing single quote characters. It is possible to create a
group whose name contains a single quote character, but the group will be
unusable.
- DecisionSite Administrator only supports flat ASCII files for importing users.
There is no support for Unicode or UTF-8 encoded files.
- DecisionSite Administrator Deployer Workbench: due to a bug in Sun's JVM (bug
#4688771), the entries (file and folder names) in the distribution.zip file may
only contain ASCII characters.
- The new Oracle11g driver does not work with Oracle8.X. If a system needs to
access Oracle8.X databases an Oracle10g JDBC driver must be used instead.
Note: the Oracle10g JDBC driver does not work with Oracle11g or supports Kerberos authentication.
- Kerberos authentication does not work on Microsoft Windows 2000 Server.
- Running Information Designer Web UI requires that DecisionSite Client be installed on
the same client machine, or that the necessary packages are downloaded from the
server by an administrator.
- A restricted user on a Windows client cannot access the help system for
Information Designer Web UI, unless an administrator on that Windows machine has
already downloaded the SfHelpControl DLL contained in the Spotfire.Package.ClientRuntime package.
- Filtering on a column that is defined as DOUBLE can produce incorrect behavior
under certain circumstances.
This is due to a bug in Oracle (According to Oracle, the following bug numbers
apply: 1375960, 1569966, 895268).
- In DecisionSite Client the List box, Check box and Radio button prompt devices do not display
semicolon ';' characters in field values. Consequently, it is not possible to
include such values in query filtering.
- Substructure search may fail for structures larger than 4000 bytes if the
columns in the query are in a certain order. This is a limitation in MDL ISIS
Direct.
- There is a problem with running an Information Link from a DecisionSite Guide or
Information Library, when using structure search prompting. The Edit structure
function is broken; returning this structure to the prompt dialog will not work.
- When executing a query against a SAS/SHARE server, the SAS/SHARE JDBC driver
ignores column renaming where only the character case is changed, e.g. "SELECT
t1.SalesID AS Salesid ...". A consequence is that an information link that joins
data between SAS/SHARE and another data source may fail. On Oracle the error is
"ORA-00904: [column name] invalid identifier". The Multiple columns workbench in
Information Designer does this kind of column renaming.
- Accessing stored procedures via database links does not work.
- Procedures cannot handle parameters of Oracle type Date.
- The server side data pivoting capabilities in Information Services requires sub
queries support in the underlying database. Sub queries are not supported in
older databases such as MySQL 4.0.
- Column properties that have been added in the Spotfire Information Designer will
be lost if the same column is re-saved using DecisionSite’s Information
Designer.
- Information Services does not support stored procedures using the Teradata
database.
- E-mail with images requires special settings for use with Lotus Notes. Please
see the installation manual for details.
- Full-text search is always performed according to the server's locale.
Therefore, for all column types except string, the result may not be as expected in
the following two cases:
- When the server's locale differs from the client's locale.
- If opening a Poster or a bookmark when the server's locale has changed
after the Poster was published.
- Some features in a Poster are blocked by pop-up blockers. When this occurs, a
message box will instruct the user how to add the web page as a safe web page.
- A Poster using linked data, i.e., an information link from Information Services,
will not work correctly if columns have disappeared or if their names and types
have changed.
- To get full Unicode support for the content in the Spotfire Library it is
necessary that the database must be configured to support the character set of
your data.
