Importing an LDAP Group

If you want to import an LDAP group to Spotfire Metrics, follow these steps in Spotfire Metrics Modeler.

Perform this task from the Users tab.

Procedure

  1. Click Manage Groups, and then click Import LDAP Group.
  2. Provide the following information, and save your selection.
    Option Description
LDAP Query Provide the LDAP query.

Examples of LDAP queries are as follows.

    • LDAP://it.northwestern.edu:389/OU= eastdiv,OU=Domain Groups,DC= it,DC=northwestern,DC=edu
    • LDAP://ldap.northwestern.edu/CN= Evanston,OU=Distribution Groups,OU=Resources,DC=it,DC=northwestern,DC=edu
    • LDAP://it.northwestern.edu:389/cn=it-office,ou= eastdiv,ou=distribution groups,OU=Resources,DC=it,DC=northwestern,DC=edu
    • LDAP://it.northwestern.edu:389/ou= eastdiv,ou=distribution groups,OU=Resources,DC=it,DC=northwestern,DC=edu
    • LDAP://it.northwestern.edu:389/CN= Sec-eastdiv-Division,OU= eastdiv,OU=Domain Groups,DC= it,DC=northwestern,DC=edu
Note: An LDAP directory service configuration is case-sensitive. If your LDAP query does not work, try changing from upper case LDAP to lower case ldap.

If you continue to have problems connecting, consult your server administrator to check the server configuration for LDAP.

Include Sub-Groups Imports the group associated with the query path, plus all the groups and their users inside of the group found at the query path.
    User Name Domain user name.
    Password Log in password.
Sync Scheduler Users can establish a refresh interval for syncing users from this group.
Note: Users not found in this group at the time of the sync will no longer be associated with this group. Any users added to this group manually via the Spotfire Metrics Modeler , but who are not found during this sync, will be disassociated from the group.
Start Time Start time for sync scheduler.
    Interval Sync interval in minutes.

Result

The LDAP group is imported.
