Categorized Means with Error Bars Plots

Creates categorized means with error bars plots for all continuous variables grouped by categorical predictors.

General

Element Name Description
Graph type Select the style of plot to depict the error intervals for the means (medians, etc.) in the plots.
Box mode Specifies the type of box plot (for multiple variables); in Regular mode, one plot is produced for each continuous dependent variable; in Multiple mode, a single box plot is produced depicting all variables. The latter format is useful for comparing multiple continuous dependent variables.
Whisker value Specifies which statistical properties of the distribution of the continuous variables are to be depicted by the whiskers (or high-low-close).
Whisker coefficient If you set the Whisker value option to Confidence interval, then you also need to specify a p value between 0.15 and .99 in this edit field. This value will be used to determine the length of the whiskers or high-low-close around the mean values, based on the standard error for the respective means, and the respective Student t value associated with the chosen probability.

If you set the Whisker value as Non-outlier range or Min-max, you need to specify a value in the Coefficient edit field by which the selected value will be multiplied to determine the range.

If the whisker value option is set to Constant, the value of the Coefficient itself determines the range (no multiplier is used).
Outliers The outliers options can be used to control the display of outliers and extremes. Select either Off, Outliers, Extreme, or Outlier and extremes.
Outlier coefficient If you select Outliers, Extreme, or Outliers and Extremes, specify a coefficient to be used to determine the outlier or extreme value range.
Pooled variance The setting of this option determines how the standard deviations and standard errors (for the means) are computed from grouped data. When Pooled Variance is selected, the program computes the pooled within-group (category) variance for all groups (categories), and uses this value as an estimate of s (Sigma) when computing the standard errors for the means.
Detail of computed results reported Detail of computed results. If All results is computed, some additional summary statistics may be reported (depending on other selections for this plot).

Grouping

Element Name Description
Grouping type Specifies the type of categorization to use for the grouping variable.
Note that if codes are available, they will be used instead.
Number of intervals Specifies the number of intervals to use when the categorization type is set to categories.
Note that if codes are available, they will be used instead.

X-Category

Element Name Description
X-category type Specifies the type of categorization to use for the X-categorical variable.
Note that if codes are available, they will be used instead.
Number of intervals Specifies the number of intervals to use when the categorization type is set to categories.
Note that if codes are available, they will be used instead.

Y-Category

Element Name Description
Y-category type Specifies the type of categorization to use for the Y-categorical variable.
Note that if codes are available, they will be used instead.
Number of intervals Specifies the number of intervals to use when the categorization type is set to categories.
Note that if codes are available, they will be used instead.
