Bivariate Fourier (Cross Spectrum) Analysis Results - Periodogram & Density Plots Tab
Select the Periodogram & density plots tab of the Bivariate Fourier (Cross Spectrum) Analysis Results dialog box to access the options described here.
Element Name | Description |
---|---|
Plot results (selected values) | Click this button to produce line plots of the statistics selected in the Results to plot group box. |
Plot log of selected values | Click this button to produce plots of the log-periodogram/densities; for other statistics the plots will be identical to those produced by the Plot results option. |
Plot histograms of selected results | Click this button to produce histograms showing the distributions of the statistics selected in the Results to plot group box. Note that the Single Spectrum (Fourier) Analysis Results dialog box also contains options to fit an exponential distribution to the periodogram values, and to compute the Kolmogorov-Smirnov d statistic of goodness of fit (see also Nonparametric Statistics). If the respective series is a white noise series, then the distribution of the periodogram values will follow the exponential distribution. |
Plot by | The selection of the option buttons in this group box determines the X (horizontal) axis in the line plots; the selected statistics can be plotted by Frequency, Period, or Log (Period). |
Examine subset of periodogram | When reviewing the results for long time series, it is often useful to examine particular frequency ranges. This can be accomplished by selecting this check box, and then specifying the range of observations to review in the edit boxes below it (From, To). Note that the numbers specified here pertain to the numbers of rows in the Summary spreadsheet, so for example, if you specify 100 and 200, then rows 100 to 200 of the spreadsheet will be displayed (or plotted). In addition to the Summary spreadsheet option, the range selected here will also apply to all plots on this dialog. |
Results to plot | Select the check boxes next to the statistics for which you want to produce line plots. The different statistics are described in the Bivariate Fourier (Cross Spectrum) Analysis Results dialog box topic. |
