Workspace Node: Categorized 3D Ternary Plots - Advanced Tab

In the Categorized 3D Ternary Plots workspace node dialog box, select Advanced to display the Advanced tab.

Element Name Description
Layout Select the type of layout for the graph(s).
Separate Select this option button to produce a Separate plot layout (where each subset of cases is displayed in a separate graph) for the categorized plots.
Overlaid Select this option button to produce an Overlaid plot layout (where all subsets are overlaid in one graph and identified by patterns and colors) for the categorized plots.

Graph Type

Select the type of categorized ternary plot to be plotted from the Graph Type list. Click the desired plot link below for a brief description of that type of graph.

 2D Scatterplot Contour/Lines
 3D Scatterplot  Contour/Areas
 Surface  Trace Plot

Variables

    1. Click the Variables button to display a standard variable selection dialog box
    1. Select the variable(s) to be plotted and the grouping variable to be categorized for the graph.
Note: the selected grouping variable does not have to be a categorical variable (for example,, contain codes). You can use one of the Methods of categorization options to categorize a continuous variable. The grouping variable is not necessary if the categories are defined via the Multiple subsets method.

Intervals

Use the options in this group box to specify a method of categorization of the values in the selected grouping variable. Each of the methods is discussed in Method of Categorization.

Fit

You can choose from four regression functions to fit to the data in a ternary plot.

  • Click on a function name for more information about that function. See Fitting Options for Ternary Plots for more information.
  • Select Off if you do not want to fit a function to the ternary plot.
    Linear Full Cubic
    Quadratic Special Cubic
Note: User-defined functions. User-defined functions can be specified on the Custom Function tab of the Graph Options dialog box. These functions are plotted over (i.e., overlaid) and not fitted to the data. In order to fit (and plot) user-defined functions to the data, use the Nonlinear Estimation module.

Data Range

Use the options in this group box to specify the data range for the ternary plots.

Ignore cases with invalid sums

Select this check box to manage cases within specified subsets (categories) in which the component proportions do not add to the constrained value.

  • If you select this check box, Statistica will ignore cases in which the proportions add to a specified expected sum.
  • If you clear this check box, then Statistica will rescale the proportions so that they add to 1 in each case.

Expected sum of x+y+z

Specify the sum to which the proportions should add. Note that this box is only available if the Ignore cases with invalid sums check box is selected.

Options

The Options button menu is available regardless of which tab is selected.

Restore to factory default

Select this command to restore all the options in the Descriptive Statistics dialog box to the original default settings.

Set current as default

Select this command to save all the current option settings in the Descriptive Statistics dialog box as default.

Create Macro

Select this command to create a macro of the analysis.

C

Click the C (select cases) button to display the Spreadsheet Case Selection Conditions dialog box - Selections tab, which contains options to create conditions for which cases will be included (or excluded) in the current analysis.

More information is available in the Case Selection Conditions Overview, Syntax Summary, and Spreadsheet Case Selection Conditions dialog box - Selections tab topic.

W

Click the W (weight) button to display the Analysis/Graph Case Weights dialog box, which contains options to adjust the contribution of individual cases to the outcome of the current analysis by weighting those cases in proportion to the values of a selected variable.

OK

Click the OK button to accept all the specifications made in the dialog box and to close it.

The results will be placed in the Reporting Documents node after running (updating) the project.
