Workspace Node: GLM Custom Design - Specifications - Quick Tab

The GLM Custom Design workspace node can be accessed from the Feature Finder, ribbon bar, or Node Browser. The Quick tab of the specifications dialog box is displayed by default when you double-click the node.

Element Name Description
Variables Click this button to display a variable selection dialog box, where you can specify dependent variables and both (optionally) categorical and/or continuous predictor variable lists. For details concerning different types of designs, and the distinction between continuous and categorical predictor variables, see the GLM Introductory Overview.
Within effects Click the Within effects button to display the Specify within-subjects factors dialog box, which is used to specify the within-subjects (repeated measures) factors. In this dialog box, you can also click the Custom within design button to display the GLM Effects for Within Design dialog box (see also the discussion of Repeated Measures ANOVA). In short, the variables in the dependent variable list are assigned to levels for the repeated measures factors. If the number of dependent variables is a multiple of the product of the levels of all repeated measures factors, a multivariate analysis with multiple dependent variables will be computed. When assigning dependent variables to the levels of the repeated measures factors and any multivariate measures, Statistica will employ a nested loop, where the fastest moving index is that of the multivariate dependent measures, the next fastest moving index is that of the repeated measures factor that was specified last, the next fastest moving index is that of the repeated measures factor that was specified next to last, and so on.
Factor codes Click the Factor codes button to display the Select codes for indep. vars (factors) dialog box, which contains options to select the codes identifying the levels for the categorical predictor variables (grouping variables). Codes must be integer values or text labels (but can be dates, times, etc.), and at least two codes must be specified for each categorical predictor variable. Note that this option is only available if categorical predictor variables (grouping variables) are specified for the current analysis. By default, all codes are selected.
Between effects Click the Between effects button to display the GLM Between Effects dialog box. These options are used to specify a custom design for the categorical and continuous predictor variables. If the variable selection includes multiple categorical variables, the default design is main effects only. This is reflected in the text displayed in the text box next to the Between effects button.
Weighted moments When this check box is selected, each observation contributes the weighting variable's value for that observation. The weight values need not be integers.
DF = W-1 / N-1 When the Weighted moments check box is selected, moment statistics (e.g., mean, variance) can be based on the sum of the weight values for the weighting variable (W-1), or on the number of (unweighted) observations (N-1). The sums of squares and cross products will always be based on the weighted values of the respective observations. However, in computations requiring the degrees of freedom (e.g., standard deviation, ANOVA tables, etc.), the value for the degrees of freedom can either be computed as the sum of the weight values minus one, or as the number of observations minus one. Moment statistics are based on the sum of the weight values for the weighting variable if the W-1 option button is selected, and are based on the number of (unweighted) observations if the N-1 option button is selected. For more information on options for using integer case weights, see Selecting a Weighting Variable.

Options / C / W. See Common Options.

OK Click the OK button to accept all the specifications made in the dialog box and to close it. The analysis results will be placed in the Reporting Documents node after running (updating) the project.
