Mini-Formatting Toolbar

An important aspect of graph customization is the appearance of the letters and numbers on the graph so that they match well with rest of the text in your report or presentation.

One place the Mini-formatting toolbar is available above the edit window on the Graph Titles/Text dialog. Using the buttons on this toolbar, you can specify a font type and style, add superscripts and subscripts, change the font attributes to bold or italics, etc. You can also place legend symbols in titles or texts as well include fits or functions in titles.

Mini-Formatting Toolbar Buttons

Insert plot symbol/marker Click this button to insert into the respective text the plot symbol for a plot. For example, in a scatterplot you can click this button, select the desired scatterplot (in a multiple scatterplot), and thus insert the point marker for the respective plot into the custom text, title, label, etc. (at the current cursor position). Note that the plot symbol inserted with this tool will automatically be updated if the respective plot changes (e.g., if you change the point marker, or change the nature of the plot from points to bars, etc.). To "disconnect" the respective field (e.g., pointer marker) from the plot, so that it will not update with changes in the graph, select Disconnect text from Graph from the Graph shortcut menu after clicking on the respective symbol in the text.
Insert plot equation, type of fit Click this button to insert information about the fit for a selected plot. When appropriate, a fit equation will be inserted. For example, suppose you computed a scatterplot with a polynomial fit. You can insert the actual fit equation (with the estimated parameter values) into the title, custom text, etc. (at the current cursor position) by clicking this button and selecting the respective fit for the respective plot. When the respective fit cannot be expressed in a simple equation, then the name of the fit type will be inserted instead. Note that the fit information will be updated when the data change, or the nature of the fit changes. To "disconnect" the respective field (e.g., fit equation with the current parameter estimates) from the plot, so that it will not be updated with changes in the graph, select Disconnect text from Graph from the Graph shortcut menu after clicking on the respective equation in the text.
Font Click this button to display the standard font selection dialog; from that dialog, select the font for the highlighted text.
Font name and size These fields provide shortcut access to the available fonts and font sizes; highlight the text that is to be formatted, and then select the desired font and/or font size.
Font color Click this button to select a different color for the highlighted (selected) text.
Font appearance Click these buttons to format the highlighted (selected) text as bold, italic, and/or underlined.
Text alignment Click these buttons to align the text flush left, centered, or flush right.
Cut, copy, paste Click these buttons to perform the standard cut, copy, and paste operations.
Undo, redo Click these buttons to perform the standard undo-edit and redo-edit operations.
Support for F4
To simplify the process of editing graph display features (e.g., font color, point markers, area patterns), STATISTICA provides support for F4. This means that you can repeat  the last command you performed in the graph. For example, if you have just changed the title font to Arial, 12pt, Italic and you wish to make the same change to the axis titles, simply highlight the axis title you wish to update, and press F4. Note that the F4 buffer is graph specific. If you switch to a different graph and press F4, you will repeat the last action performed on that graph.
