PI Interpolated Data

Use the options in this dialog box to query the database for compressed values in the specified time range. The search will return the values as a data set (spreadsheet).

Note: You must have version 1.3.1 or greater of PI SDK in order to use this option.

On the Ribbon bar, select the PI tab > Data group > Interpolated to display the Interpolated Data dialog box.

You can also select the Home tab > File group. Click the Open arrow. From the Open External Data > PI submenu, select Interpolated Data to display the Interpolated Data dialog box.

In Classic menus, on the File > Get External Data > PI submenu, select Interpolated Data to display the Interpolated Data dialog box.  

To begin:

  1. Click the PI Logon button to display the PI Connection Manager.
  2. Log on to the PI server.
  3. Click the Tag Search button to display the Tag Search dialog. (The Tag Search dialog is an OSISoft UI component and is outside the scope of this documentation)

OK

Click OK button to begin the specified search.

Cancel

Click Cancel button to close this dialog box without conducting the specified search.

Search Tags

After you have completed the tag search, the tags you have selected will be returned to this list box. Click OK to query the PI database. Values will be returned for the tags in the box.

Load

Click the Load button to display the Search Tags list.

Save

Click the Save button to display the Save Tag Selections dialog box, where you can save the Search Tags list in a .ini file for easy retrieval.

Begin Date

In this box, enter the begin date for the search.

You can enter the data manually, or click the Timestamp button to display a calendar where you can specify the date. Additionally, you can enter PI custom time intervals.

End Date

In this box, enter the end date for the search.

You can enter the data manually or click the Timestamp button to display a calendar where you can specify the date. Additionally, you can enter PI custom time intervals.

n Observations

Enter the number of observations to return in this box.

Use Sampling Interval

This check box (adjacent to n observations) toggles n Observations to Sampling Interval.

Sampling Interval

In this box, enter PI custom time intervals. Sampling intervals need to be a string specified in hours, minutes, or seconds. Several formats are allowed: 1h, 2m, 35s, -2h, -5s, 01:30, 06:30:45.

Filter Expr [opt]

Enter an (optional) filter expression in this field (refer to your PI documentation for details about filtering). Specify whether or not to show filtered items in the resulting data set with a filter status.

Filter Type [opt]

Select from one of three (optional) filter types:

Show Filtered State

Select to return all values to the data set. Values that fail the filter criteria (see Filter Expr, above) are set to a filtered state.

Remove Filtered

Select to return only values that pass the filter criteria to the data set.

Use Expression times

Select to return values within the Begin and End Dates to the data set.

Use Filter

Select this check box to filter the data using the filter expression entered in the Filter Expr [opt] field described above.

Choices for this option:

  • Include all data in the resulting spreadsheet with a column indicating whether the data passed or failed the filtering criteria by selecting Show Filtered State.
  • Exclude data that doesn't meet the filtering criteria by selecting Remove Filtered.

Metadata Var

Select this check box to include a metadata variable in the resulting data set. This variable will indicate whether the data are good or bad. When this option is cleared, bad data are automatically filtered (excluded) from the resulting spreadsheet.

PI Logon

Click this button to display the PI Connection Manager and log on to the PI database.

Tag Search

Click this button to display the Tag Search dialog box, which is used to conduct a basic, advanced, or alias search. The results of this search will be used to populate the Search Tags list box.

Batch Search

Click this button to display the Batch Search dialog box, which is used to query the PI SDK server, using the PI batch search capability to automatically select sets of tags and date ranges from previously defined batch data in the PI system and to select one or many batches from a list.
