Nonlinear Estimation Startup Panel and Quick Tab

Ribbon bar. | Select the Statistics tab. In the Advanced/Multivariate group, click Advanced Models and from the menu, select Nonlinear Estimation to display the Nonlinear Estimation Startup Panel. |
Classic menus. | On the Statistics - Advanced Linear/Nonlinear Models submenu, select Nonlinear Estimation to display the Nonlinear Estimation Startup Panel.
The Startup Panel contains one tab: Quick. Use these options to select the desired regression model. The Quick tab of the Nonlinear Estimation Startup Panel contains options to select the desired regression model for the analysis. When you select User-specified regression, least squares (default) or User-specified regression, custom loss function, you can type in a formula to specify the relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable. The User-specific regression, least-squares option uses the efficient Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm (see, for example, More, 1977), and it is recommended to use this method whenever possible, particularly in conjunction with large data sets. User-specified regression, least squares | Select User-specified regression, least squares and click the OK button to display the User-Specified Regression, Least Squares dialog box. You can also double-click on User-specified regression, least squares to display the dialog box. With this model, you can enter a formula to specify the relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable. Use these options to specify a regression equation and loss function. With this model, you can specify the relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable. |

Note:
Generalized Linear Model (GLZ). You can also use the Generalized Linear/Nonlinear Model (GLZ) module to analyze continuous, binomial, or multinomial dependent variables. GLZ is an implementation of the generalized linear model and allows you to compute a standard, stepwise, or best subset multiple regression analysis with continuous as well as categorical predictors, and for continuous, binomial, or multinomial dependent variables (probit regression, binomial and multinomial logit regression, Poisson regression, etc.; see also Link Function). In general, the estimation algorithms implemented in the Generalized Linear/Nonlinear Models (GLZ) module are more efficient, and STATISTICA only includes these models here for compatibility purposes.

OK | Select the desired regression model on the Quick tab and click the OK button to display the corresponding regression model dialog box. |
Cancel | Click the Cancel button to close the Startup Panel without performing an analysis. |

Open Data | Click the Open Data button to display the Select Data Source dialog box, which is used to choose the spreadsheet on which to perform the analysis. The Select Data Source dialog box contains a list of the spreadsheets that are currently active. |
Select Cases | Click the Select Cases button to display the Analysis/Graph Case Selection Conditions dialog box, which is used to create conditions for which cases will be included (or excluded) in the current analysis. More information is available in the case selection conditions overview, syntax summary, and dialog box description. |
W | Click the W (Weight) button to display the Analysis/Graph Case Weights dialog box, which is used to adjust the contribution of individual cases to the outcome of the current analysis by "weighting" those cases in proportion to the values of a selected variable.
