Time Series Analysis - General Logic of Memory Management
After you select one or more variables (time series), they will be read into the active work area. Transformations of variables, forecasts, residuals, etc. are later also appended to the active work area. The number of backups (i.e., previous versions of the series) per original variable (series) that is maintained in the active work area is determined by the Number of backups per variable (series) parameter. When a new transformation is about to be appended, and the maximum number of backups for the respective original variable (by default 3) has already been exceeded, then the "oldest" previous backup will be replaced. You can lock a variable (prevent it from being overwritten) by double-clicking on the respective variable in the Lock column. Double-click on the Variable column and the Long variable (series) name column to edit the respective names. For more details, refer to Active Work Area.
